Student Spotlight - Gabrielle Gafford
Gabrielle Gafford, Impossible Possibilities' Scholarship Class of 2014, will continue the next step toward earning her doctorate degree when she begins classes in the fall at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee.
Gabby completed her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from Rhodes College, also located in Memphis, in May of 2018. She was a four-year varsity athlete in volleyball and a member of the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Academic Honor Roll and SAA All-Sportsmanship Team. She was also named a Crossroads to Freedom Fellow for her work with high school interns selected to document the story and history of their individual Memphis neighborhoods, and she also received the Deaf Literacy Fellowship for her efforts in learning sign language and assisting organizations devoted to helping the deaf and hearing impaired.
Upon becoming a doctor, Gabby plans to open her own optometry practice. She also aspires to start her own scholarship program that provides opportunities to students who need financial assistance with graduate school testing and application fees.
