6th Annual Dallas Citywide Luggage Drive
Impossible Possibilities (IP) sponsored the 6th Annual Dallas Citywide Luggage Drive held on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at the Mercado 369 Artisan Gallery in Dallas.
The grant marks the sixth consecutive year the organization has contributed to the drive, which benefits graduating high school seniors in the Dallas ISD by providing luggage at no cost. Each recipient will use the luggage as they transition from high school to college.
The annual drive is organized by 2011 IP scholarship award recipient, 2015 Georgetown University graduate, and 2017 Harvard University graduate Adan Gonzalez. Gonzalez began the drive in response to a personal experience that saw him using trash bags as luggage when he moved from Dallas Oak Cliff to Washington D.C. to start college.
Approximately 250 students received new sets of luggage at the June 7 event, increasing the total number of students served to more than 1,000 since 2013.
IP co-founder Justin Hernandez addressed the 2018 luggage recipients and shared with them different tips that have helped him in his professional pursuits.
